REGATTA SAILING INSTRUCTIONS FORM
The Summer Sailstice Regatta is an all-ages event for San Francisco Bay Area fleets. All proceeds from the event will fund help TISC's community sailing outreach programs for youth and adaptive sailors. Optimists, 420s, FJs, Lasers, Laser Radials, Vanguard15s, J24s, Melges 24, and Express 27' Fleets are invited to participate in the regatta. For other fleets wanting to race, please contact us at 415.421.2225 to organize a start. There must be at least 5 boats to constitute a fleet.
RULES. This regatta shall be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
ENTRIES may be made by delivering a completed entry form and paying the entry fee by Monday, June 12th. After that date a $5.00 late fee shall be included. Entries may be made by faxing registration materials to 415.421.2208 and paying fee by the deadline. The deadline for all entries is 1030 on Saturday morning, June 17th. Competitors may also enter by completing registration at the regatta registration desk at TISC on Saturday morning June 17th.
Registration Form is available online at www.tisailing.org or at registration on Saturday morning. The Entry fees for sailors for the following classes are:
- $70 per boat for Vanguard 15, Express 27, J24, & Melges 24 (includes 2 tickets for the Summer Sailstice Saturday celebration)
- $35 per Laser Adult: (includes one ticket to the Summer Sailstice Saturday Celebration)
- $10 per youth (includes one ticket to the Summer Sailstice Saturday Celebration)
Members of US Sailing may deduct $5.00 from the entry fee. Include copy of USSA Membership Card with entry.
SAFETY. Life jackets or other adequate PERSONAL FLOTATION DEVICE WITH A WHISTLE shall be worn by all competitors while racing. Competitors on Alpha and Bravo Courses are required to carry a towline consistent with their class rules, or at least 20 feet in length.
NOTICES TO COMPETITORS will be posted on the official notice board east side of the Vanguard 15 storage shed.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS and regatta registration forms will be distributed via internet at www.tisailing.org/sailorsbash prior to the regatta and will be available at registration on Saturday morning.
SIGNALS MADE ASHORE will be displayed from the flagpole located to the west of the dinghy launch ramp. If a postponement is signaled ashore, the warning signal will be made not less than 30 minutes after AP is lowered for Course Alpha, and 60 minutes for Course Bravo & Charlie.
LAUNCHING. Boats (under 3500 pounds) may be launched and or stored at the Treasure Island Sailing Center (TISC) and others may anchor out in Clipper Cove.

Trophy Presentation
CLASS FLAGS shall be flags with the sail insignia of each class.
COURSES and MARKS. Racing for FJ's and Optimists (all fleets) will take place in Clipper Cove (Course Alpha). Racing for 420's, Lasers/Radials, and Vanguard 15's will be in the Emeryville Flats just northeast of Clipper Cove (Course Bravo). Racing for the J24, Melges 24, Express 27 and any other large boat fleets will take place just north of Treasure Island (Course Charlie). Race course assignments may change at the discretion of the race committee, based on number of boats registered per fleet. All marks shall be temporary inflatables. Courses will consist of combinations of windward-leeward's, or triangle-windward/leeward with finishes being downwind or upwind at the RC's discretion. Courses shall be signaled with numeral pennants.
STARTING & FINISHING shall be between an orange flag on the Race Committee Signal Boat and an inflatable mark. The Sound Signal System (Appendix Q) shall be used on Courses Alpha and Bravo and the RRS 26 System shall be used on Course Charlie.
TIME LIMIT for all races shall be 10 minutes after the first boat finishes for courses Alpha and Bravo and 15 minutes after the first boat finishes for Course Charlie. Boats finishing after this will be scored DNF. This changes RRS 35.
SCORING. The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A, of the RRS will apply. Three races shall be completed to constitute a series. If seven races are completed a boat may throw out her worst score. This changes RRS A2. The total number of races shall be left at the discretion of the race committee. No more than twelve races will be raced, six per day.
PENALTY SYSTEM. For Courses Alpha and Bravo only Rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn, including one tack and one gibe, is required.
AWARDS shall be made to first, second and third in each Fleet.
SOCIAL. Continental Breakfast will be available Saturday and Sunday mornings for competitors and volunteers. The Saturday Sailstice festivities includes dinner, drinks, and live music. There will also be a silent auction and raffle to raise funds for the Youth and Adaptive Outreach Sailing Programs held at TISC. Extra tickets for family and friends can be purchased for $25 per person. Children are our guests!
DISCLAIMER. The Treasure Island Sailing Center will require each competitor to sign a waiver for loss, damage or injury to persons or property occurring in conjunction with the regatta or on the facility premises. The Treasure Island Sailing Center, its directors, and race committee members shall not be responsible for any loss, damage or injury that may occur to person or property whether ashore or at sea as a consequence of the participation of any boat. The decision to participate in this event is the sole responsibility of the competitor and their parent(s)/guardian(s).

Directions to the Treasure Island Sailing Center:
Take I-80 to the Bay Bridge. Take the Treasure Island exit (left exit) half way over the Bay Bridge. Continue down the exit road to the Main Gate for Treasure Island. Go through the gate, take your first right onto California Ave. Proceed down California past the 4 large buildings on your right (approx. ½ mile) Take a right at the end of the last large building onto Avenue I; TISC is located in the fenced compound ¼ mile directly ahead.
