Capital Campaign Goals - Facility Improvements

2007 Capital Campaign Goals

This years Capital Campaign consists of $56,500 for facility and fleet improvements.  Our capital campaign drive allows the infrastructure to grow our Youth and Adaptive Outreach Programs.

2007 Fleet Improvements  $35,500

In 2007, we were fortunate enough to have two supporters donate a J24 and a small inflatable to our program! We extend our greatest thanks to them both. We are still hoping to raise over $35,500 over the next year to purchase more boats so we can improve our existing programs and offer sailing classes to more kids and adults. We are actively looking for another Whaler that is suitable for the Bay, and another J24 or Sonar.

The 2007 fleet development campaign of $35,500 includes the purchase of:

  • 1 safety boat: $10,000
  • 5 optimists: $15,000
  • 3 FJ's : $10,500

2007 Facility Development Plan $21,000

In April of 2006, the Treasure Island Development Authority approved the expansion of the Treasure Island Sailing Center to 60,000 square feet (nearly twice what it was!) This has allowed us to have a new modular classroom so we can accommodate more kids in our program. We want to thank the city for their continued support and helping us reach our objective of getting every child sailing!

This year, we would like to build a porch outside our classroom so we can hold a classes both inside and out, and a changing area for boys and girls to make getting into and out of wetsuits more comfortable!

Another main objective this year is to explore various possibilities for providing interim wheelchair accessibility to the water.  Right now, we have to utilize other facilities for wheelchair access to the water.  The long term plans for the marina in Clipper Cove would provide us a fantastic ADA ramp to the water.  However, we would like to have an interim solution so we can expand our Adaptive Sailing Program.

The 2007 facility improvement campaign of $21,000 includes:

  • Engineering report for ADA ramp to water: $1,500
  • Deck: $9,000
  • Changing Sheds: $5,000
  • Keycard System for entrance and Ramp: $2,500
  • Office Equipment $2,000
  • Gangway Lift $1,000

Long Term Facility Development Plan

Treasure Island is presently in the process of being developed and TISC is also on the development process. In the interim, you can expect to see new docks, final improvements in the dinghy ramp, and a mobile office for classroom space.
