Free Virtual Field Trips For Your Class!

Tue – Fri March 16th to April 30th

“TISC was our first science experience this year, and students’ high enthusiasm and engagement during the pre-lesson, video field trip, and post-lesson are helping to push me to integrate more science into our distance learning. Y’all have also inspired me to focus on environmental education for our first science unit, as this is an area of knowledge that is lacking from our current science curriculum but is necessary, place-based, and easy to integrate with geographical and historical history of California.”– Teacher Bessie Carmichael Elementary/Filipino Education Center

Lakeshore ES loves TISC. We look forward to our field trip every year, and had soo much fun learning virtually. It was very exciting!

Carina, age 10 says, “I think even though we didn’t really go on a field trip, we still learned a lot of things.”

Anonymous “I loved learning about the ocean and crabs! and I learned stuff i did not know before!”

Timmy, age 9 says, “I think that it is great and I wish there is a virtual field trip every day.”

The Program

While you may not be able to bring your students to Treasure Island Sailing Center, they can visit with us virtually from their home or classroom! Our Ecology of the Bay curriculum has been adapted to meet the needs of your students learning from home and developed to enhance your science curriculum.

Each program will be a 60 minute live ZOOM broadcast delivered by our STEM educators . Students will interact with our educators as they examine a live specimen from our docks. Our educators follow the 5E learning approach making observations while encouraging group discussions.

Additional materials

Registered teachers will receive extended learning materials providing students activities to do prior to and after the program. These activities are easily uploaded to Google Classroom and can be assigned to students.

Registration is now Open and is free to San Francisco Unified School District students. The program begins on Sept. 14th and will run through October 16th.

If you are in another school district, private school, in a learning pod, or homeschool, please contact us on how your class can participate. We will be opening registration to classrooms outside of San Francisco Unified soon.
