Dear Friends of TISC,
We are excited to embark on a new era for our Sailing Center. The next chapter is filled with promise — one with a new permanent home on a revitalized Treasure Island for all to learn and grow through sailing.
With the incredible transformation under way at Treasure Island, we’ve decided to pause operations and programs for two to three years, as the City and its partners move into the next phase of building San Francisco’s newest neighborhood with new homes, streets, parks, trails, restaurants, shops … and our new Sailing Center! Hitting pause, rather than operating a temporary facility that construction crews would have to work around, will accelerate improvements in our corner of Treasure Island, including our new home. Also, it will save funds we’d need to use now for substantial repairs to our facilities and ongoing maintenance.
We’re excited that the City and the development team have been so supportive and collaborative. They will assist us through our transition, such as providing office space for our ongoing, but reduced operations; storing our resources nearby so they can be easily moved to our new site; and, coordinating on development plans.
While we’re all eager to be on the waters of Clipper Cove, we believe the neighborhood improvements will support the Sailing Center’s long-term future and sustainability. Our new home will better serve the thousands of students who have participated in our Set, Sail and Learn program. The new facilities will better serve everyone.
We’re fully committed to fulfilling our mission when we return and will keep you updated on our plans, fundraising and progress. Thank you for your support and understanding as we tack and jib toward a brighter future for the Treasure Island Sailing Center.

We are passionate and dedicated sailors and teachers from around the Bay Area and beyond. We provide sailing lessons and water sports access to youth, adults, and people with disabilities on San Francisco Bay. We use sailing and outdoor experiential education to develop life skills and practice our values, building tomorrow’s leaders.
We create opportunities for people to learn and grow through sailing by providing facilities, sailing instruction, and access to the water for people of all socio-economic backgrounds, abilities and skill levels from novice to Olympian.
To provide San Francisco with a first rate community sailing center that provides universal access to and lifelong connections with the Bay.
To serve ALL children in our community and to teach them more than sailing.
