Sailing for Youth Groups

Youth Groups from all over the Bay Area come to the Treasure Island Sailing Center to give their youth participants a safe, valuable, and eye-opening sailing experience. TISC has been hosting Youth Groups since we started in 1999 and has been growing ever since.

TISC is committed to providing Bay Area youth with affordable sailing experiences and scholarships. TISC never turns away a child and has no limit to the number of scholarships we can award. Over 80% of our youth group participants attended on full scholarship. If your group works with children of families who fall within our scholarship guidelines, receive free or reduced lunch at school, housing subsidy, SNAP benefits, etc., or deserve aid due to ANY hardship, please inquire about scholarships for your participants. It’s why we are here!

Sailing Orientations - 1 day, 3 hours

Come see the City by the Bay FROM the Bay!

Sailing Orientations are 3 hours long and are offered as morning sessions (9 am-12 pm) or afternoon sessions (1 pm-4 pm). Sessions are offered Monday-Friday. Participants will sail with an instructor on larger stable boats along San Francisco Bay.

Sailors can do as much (or as little!) as they would like during the sail, including steering, working the sails, or even just enjoying the sights.

Explore Sailing - 5 days, 7 hours

Explore Sailing class is excellent for new sailors who want to learn the ropes in one week without as much focus on skill development.

This class shows students the elements of water safety and sailing basics in a group sailing setting. Participants will sail on a boat with 4-6 sailors and a coach, and the class sails in 2-3 boats. Sailors will learn basic maneuvers, including steering, tacking, and gybing, and have opportunities to try different boats.

Participants will also plan several adventure sails throughout the week and have opportunities to try paddlesports equipment.
